The focus areas of Alfred Mann’s commercial interests have been in the restoration of hearing and sight, neural and visual disorders. In addition to the correction of the aforementioned medical disorders, Mr. Mann's companies have also focused on the development of tissue-engineered devices, diabetes and cancer technologies, and cardiac rhythm management systems.
Advanced Bionics
Advanced Bionics, is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of bionic technologies. Advanced Bionics is a global leader in the development of implantable, high-technology cochlear implants to restore hearing. The company also developed a variety of other neurostimulation devices to treat chronic pain, incontinence, and other maladies and those activities were acquired by Boston Scientific Corporation in 2004.
Bioness
Bioness is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of award-winning medical devices designed to aid in the recovery of patients suffering from neurological disorders. Significant improvements have been made in the quality of life and mobility of patients who have suffered neurological disorders such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and spinal cord injury.

Mannkind is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutic products for diseases such as diabetes and cancer. It’s lead product is a revolutionary inhaled monomeric insulin that is so fast that it mimics the kinetics of a healthy pancreas in a person without diabetes.
NeuroSystec
NeuroSyestec is a developer of device and pharmaceutical technologies formulated to treat diseases of the nervous system. In focus are hearing-related disorders, especially those of the inner ear including tinnitus, Ménière's Disease, and progressive hearing loss.
