Shared Revenues
The revenues to the AMI are first used to reimburse for patent and legal expenses in support of the development of the intellectual property.
Remaining revenues and equity from the university intellectual property licensed to the AMIs are shared between the inventors, the university, the AMI and the AEMFBE. The university and its AMI receive 80% of the revenue and equity, a portion of which can be sub-allocated to the faculty inventor based on the policies of each university.
In addition, the monies paid to the AMI are used to support further development at the university of additional biomedical technologies. It is in this way over time an AMI will be able to significantly increase the number of projects that are selected for development, thereby giving the endowment substantially over and above the initial $100 million endowment.
