About the Alfred E. Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering

The Alfred E. Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering (AEMFBE) is a philanthropic organization that establishes university-based commercialization-enablement and product development institutes, called Alfred Mann Institutes for Biomedical Development (AMIs), to more rapidly expedite the delivery of compelling biomedical technology to patients. The AEMFBE is overseen by President David Hankin., and is headquartered in the 167 acre Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia, California, which is about 30 minutes north of UCLA.

The AEMFBE is an umbrella organization that manages the Site Selection Committee and its consultants in identifying potential university partners for an AMI and that engages the university in mutually determining an AMI fit.

The AEMFBE supports the AMIs in a number of ways, including market analysis and due diligence, regulatory and reimbursement guidance, legal assistance, cost of goods analysis and other product and technology development activities required to expedite the movement of innovation towards the commercialization.
