Alfred E Mann has dedicated most of his career to bettering the quality of life for those who suffer from life debilitating disorders through the development of innovative medical devices. It is his desire to further his commitment to mankind by creating university-based industrial biomedical product development organizations (Alfred E. Mann Institutes, AMIs) at elite research institutions across the US to bridge the gap between the public and private sector. Their mission is to expedite and commercialize compelling biomedical technology for the benefit of mankind.

The vision of Mr. Mann is to support the university-based development of technology using an industry standard development process. The staff of an Alfred E. Mann Institute have the requisite industry experience to support using business decision tools to expedite the process. The Alfred E. Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering is a philanthropic organization that establishes and supports the AMIs.

Alfred E. Mann has been an entrepreneur for over 50 years, initially in the aerospace industry and more recently in medical products. His goal has been to provide innovative technical solutions for people suffering from debilitating medical challenges.
